Wednesday Night with the Babes

Today was my first day back at work since the Christmas break, and holy man was it ever a busy day. To make matters worse, both the gals I work with were sick, so I was catching up for all 3 of us. I seem to always complain about this, but there just aren't enough hours in the day!

My boyfriend Troy had tickets to the Canada vs. Czech Junior hockey game tonight, but couldn't make it so he gave me the tickets. I thought I would be nice and offer them to my brother and his wife for a baby-free night on the town. Unfortunately, Andrew ended up working late, but Michelle still went with a friend. That left me and my sister Amy to babysit their monkeys. So I headed on over to their house after work to take over baby duty.

It was a good night, a busy one, but a good one! Played, sang, danced, giggled and tickled. Then I made some supper for us girls, bathed the twins (Nat wanted to join in too) put everyone in their jammies, and put the twins down. Bell wasn't a happy camper, even though they both had fallen asleep with their pre-bed bottles. Nat wouldn't go to sleep as she wanted to stay up and wait for mommy and daddy to come home. Hats off to my sister-in-law for handling those 3 babies all day everyday!! I have no problem watching them while she has some time for herself, I can see how people go crazy! Those little babies keep a person Busy Busy Busy!!

Lake Louise

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I can't believe it's already here!

Had a blast yesterday riding out at Lake Louise even though it was windy. It was the first ski trip of the season and made me that much more excited for the other trips to come. So far I already have 2 trips to Marmot Basin planned for January and a potential trip to Panorama. As I said last night, we stayed at the Deer Lodge in Lake Louise. It's an older hotel with lots of character. Vintage furniture in livings rooms and they use keys to open their doors! I haven't seen keys for doors in hotels in quite some time. We were a 2 minute walk from the Chateau Louise, so we wandered up there to look around and grab a bite to eat. We came across the "Glacier Saloon" where we sat down for a pitcher of beer and some nachos. After we were done eating we walked back to the hotel and put on our swimsuits for a dip in the hot tub before a good nights sleep.

There wasn't a whole lot of snow on the mountain, but definitely enough to have some fun with. It was really nice waking up and only having to drive 5 minutes to the mountain as opposed to waking up at 6 and driving 2 hours from Calgary. The wind was quite chilly (I ended up getting a bit of frost bite on my cheek!), but the sun did make it out for us to enjoy a good 6 hours of riding.

I hope you all get to enjoy your Christmas Eve's with your loved ones.

Christmas Break

So I am in Calgary now for the Christmas break. Headed south on the QE2 Highway yesterday afternoon (only worked a half day!) for Calgary. My boyfriend Troy, my sister Amy and I headed out to Lake Louise last night to stay at the Deer Lodge for a day of skiing. The hotel was definitely an interesting place, that's for sure! This morning we woke up bright and early to hit the slopes at Lake Louise. More pictures to follow of our time on the hill. Had a blast today and tonight with my family, I am exhausted from my busy day so I am off to bed. Happy Christmas Eve Eve!!

Tonights Tales

This week has started off as a busy one. Only 5 more days until Christmas, can you believe it (I know I can't). I feel like yesterday was July,  but here we are December 20, 2011 approaching another New Year. Is everyone ready for Christmas? I have to buy 1 more present and stocking stuffers and finish up my wrapping. On Thursday I am headed down to Calgary to spend the holidays with my family there so i've got to get it all done tomorrow.

Having family in different provinces has its benefits (Vacations!!) but come holiday time, I wish that we were all a bit closer to each other. Maybe i'll have to plan an extended weekend trip there in the near future. I can't wait until the summer to see everyone again. I miss my crazy family way too much :)

And speaking of the coast, this morning when I woke up it was +5 outside! It even rained this afternoon, which will be lovely in the morning waking up to icy roads. This is crazy considering it is December 20 and we live in Alberta. I am just bracing for our real winter to hit us smack in the face. Bring it on Mother Nature, i'm waiting for you.

Have a lovely night everyone, I shall leave you with some pictures taken last week of the babes!

A Letter to Rhodes

Oh my adorably handsome little nephew, how I love you so much. You have the biggest smile I have ever seen on a baby with big kissable, chubby cheeks! You laugh and giggle all the time, and absolutely love to jump in your saucer and Jolly Jumper. Each day you grow you look more and more like your daddy. You bring a smile to my face the minute I walk in the door. I am so happy that you and your sisters are a part of my life, you have no idea. The 3 of you have given me such a different perpective on life. My hope is for you to continue on smiling at life no matter what is thrown your way. You are the little dude of the family, so it's your job to look after those 2 sisters of yours. If I could have it my way, and i'm sure mommy feels the same way, I would have the 3 of you stay small and innocent forever. In the meantime, I will treasure each and every moment that I spend with you.

I love you to the moon and back.

Just Like Daddy

Last weekend when I was over at my brother's house to take some pictures, I was busy with the twins when I heard grunting. I looked back and this is what I saw:

Natalie with dry spaghetti using them as weights "Just like Daddy does". Like seriously, how flippin cute is she?!

Christmas Baking #2

Sunday I was over at my friend Stacey's house along with our buddy Andrea to do some Christmas baking. First we headed on over to the grocery store to pick up our supplies (along with a cart full of other things for our own fridges). As a treat we stopped by Starbucks and each bought a latte to warm us up on a chilly overcast Sunday afternoon. We each brought a recipe with us to triple so that we could all have a little bit of each others. Andrea decided on Ginger Snaps, Stacey did a Pecan Square and I chose the traditional Sugar Cookie. We also decided to experiment and make some Mulled Red Wine. It turned out nicely and was a delicious treat while we baked. 5 hours later, I headed out of the door exhausted accompanied with a couple dozen cookies and squares.

Hello Babies!

Happy Sunday everyone, the weekend flew by just like they always do! Friday I stayed in for a quiet night at home for some cleaning and catch up. Yesterday I headed on down to Beaumont to visit Michelle and the 3 babes. Oh my how they are so so cute! I brought my camera along for some winter onesies pictures (pics to follow). I managed to get a few good shots before the twinnies started to fuss as it was their nap time. Once we put them down for their nap Natalie and I had some fun playing, singing & watching Elmo together. After that it was time for her own"Sleepy-Sleep Time". Although she didn't sleep for very long before I heard "MOMMY" coming from her room. I'm a sucker for that little ham so I went and grabbed her to play some more :)

Hope you all had a nice weekend, I will post the Christmas pictures sometime this week for you. In the mean time I will leave you with a few pics of the twins in their jammies.
