Celebrating Amy

Today my baby sister is twenty one years old.

I swell with pride when I think of the amazing young woman you have grown into. You are such a beautiful soul with an amazing personality – even though you can be sassy at times – but I still love you for it! That is what sisters are for, we can be laughing so hard we have tears running down our cheeks and the next minute be fighting with one another over the littlest thing. All those small moments of bickering mean nothing when it’s the day is over and it’s time for bed. At the end of the day we are sisters and nobody can break the bond that we share. I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you do for me and for others. I know I’m not the easiest individual to please, but you seem to always know what to do or how I’m feeling without me saying a word.

“You can kid the world, but not your sister.”  - Charlotte Gray

You are the Peanut But ter to my Jelly, the Piglet to my Winnie, the Chips to my Dip, the Cookies to my Milk, the Sun to my Sunshine- we are two peas in a pod and I love you so very much.

I heart you to the moon and back Amy-Roo! Happy Happy Birthday you beautiful girl, I can't wait to celebrate with you in Viva Las Vegas :)

Love Your Older Sissy,

Birthday Cake

For the twins actual birthday Michelle invited me over to enjoy some dinner and cake with the family. This was the first time the kiddos ate ice cream cake – and did they ever enjoy it! Bella was too cute picking at the cake like a little lady with one hand. Rhodes was the complete opposite, both hands dug right into the cake double fisting the whole time. He even picked up his plate and licked all the melted ice cream off. After he finished his he tried to get to Bella’s plate. Goofballs!

On a side note – I leave for Vegas in T Minus 1.5 days!! Whoo-hoo :) I cannot wait, only one more day of work and I am on vacation time. So I hope you all enjoy yourselves while I’m away and I’ll be sure to get some pics up as soon as I have a free moment when I’m back home.

Sunday Funday

So I definitely meant to post this a few weeks ago, but I'm pretty sure it was when I went on my holiday to Disneyland and it got forgotten.

This was from a Sunday spent with Andrew, Michelle and the kiddos - It started off with meeting Michelle at Starbucks in the morning for a frappaccino. It was gorgeous outside so we sat on the patio and chit-chatted. Next we headed out to West Edmonton Mall for some shopping and lunch. After we finished shopping we went back to Beaumont to enjoy some fun in the sun with the kiddos.Natalie just recently got some bubble wands so we sat on the front steps and blew bubbles for awhile, then her and I wandered across the street and played on the park for an hour or so.

On a side note, Natalie has a new habit of not wearing clothes. She is constantly in her "Birthday Suit". It doesn't matter if its just her and the twins or a room full of friends - she takes 'em off. It started with just her shirt and now its evolved to even stripping her diaper and pull ups off. Whenever she eats and something drips or falls on her she says its wet and wants it taken off immediately (or the meltdown begins). So if you see a lot of pics with her sans clothing - that's her doing! Crazy two year old :)

A Walk to the Park

These are from a few weeks ago - Enjoyed a nice family stroll down to the neighbourhood park; we had a blast!

Happy Saturday, I am waiting for Natalie to wake up so we can go swimming and then its time to get ready for all the girls to come over later this afternoon. I enjoyed an awesome girls night last night with Natalie and am looking forward to a "grown-up" girls night tonight! Hope you all have awesome days - get out and enjoy the sunshine :)

Thank Goodness it's Friday!

This weekend looks to be a good one for myself. Tonight I am grabbing Natalie after work and she is coming over to my place for another sleepover! I am super excited as we always have a good time together, plus it's a nice break for Michelle, which I am more than happy to give her. If she's a good girl we will more than likely head to the swimming pool for some water fun. Tomorrow is girls night at my place which I am so looking forward to. I love to entertain and I love my girlfriends so it's a perfect combo! We shall see what sort of trouble us girlies get ourselves into ;) Sunday I am heading to the library the minute it opens and not allowing myself to leave until they kick me out for closing. I really need to crack down hard to get my online class done, and to my standards!

What's everyone up to for this weekend? The weather seems to have finally taken a turn for the better - should be a good one!

Anticipating: VEGAS. In less than a week I will be in Sin City for 5 days to celebrate my sister’s 21st birthday. This is my first time going so I am uber excited to soak it all in!

Lovin’: How patio & campfire season is fast approaching. Now all we need is for the overnight lows to warm up and the rain to stop falling.

Listening To: Fleetwood Mac. We had a movie night at our neighbours place this past weekend and watched the Fleetwood Mac concert. I just can’t get enough “Silver Springs”. Lovin’ it!

Stressed About: My deadline to finish my online course. I have definitely been slacking in the homework department and I only have two months to finish the course. I need to crack the whip on myself to make sure I meet my deadline. I am not usually the type to slack so much, I just can’t believe how quick the past few months have gone by.

Thinking About: Girls night. I am having a few of my close girl friends over this Saturday so I have been trying to decide what to feed them. My friend Terri is bringing her Margaritaville machine so that she can whip us up many a margarita J yummy!

What have you guys been keeping busy with lately?

Tuesday Chewsday

Good Morning to you!

I have been away at the family cabin for the long weekend with no internet connection. It was blissful. I always enjoy a trip to the lake - it’s a good stress relief ritual for me. One of my favourite reasons to be at the lake includes having no cell reception. For some people not having cell phone service is a matter of life or death, for me it’s amazing. You can sit down for a meal and have an actual conversation with someone – not having to talk to them with their heads down typing away furiously at their phones. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. I am a strong believer of no cell phones at the kitchen table. Those are some of the rare moments you can spend bonding with your loved ones catching up on your days sans technology. I may be in my twenties but I hate how technology rules our lives. I still write my notes for school and my lists for myself using pen and paper. For myself typing notes doesn’t help me retain much, I need to physically write it down to be able to soak it in. Obviously I should have been born into a different decade!

How was everyone’s long weekends? I had a blast out at the lake with my dad and uncle. We got lots of chores done around the lot, ate like Kings (and Queens), and also enjoyed some karaoke time with our neighbours. Definitely had a great weekend and cannot wait until July long for my next trip out west.

And of course every post is better with some pictures. Here are a few of my darlings (whom I can’t wait to go see after work today) from last weekend.

A 1st Birthday Letter to the Twins

Dear Isabella & Rhodes,

There is no way it's been a full year since you two graced us with your presence. I do need to say that the pair of you have changed many people's lives. I am a better person because of you (and that older sister of yours). This year has gone by in a whirlwind full of so many happy memories and moments. I've been blessed enough to have seen you grow from your teeny tiny selves - cracking your first smiles, laughing your first laughs, to the big kids you are now - taking your first steps. I still can't believe how small and fragile you two were and now you are so mobile and curious - scooting around everywhere trying to get your grabby little hands on everything. You two are the cutest kids in the entire world, Bella you are as perfect as a doll and my handsome little Rhodes - your smile is to die for. Both of you have amazing personalities already which are evolving more and more day by day.

I can't wait to see what the future holds for you two. I know you will achieve many great things in your lifetime. But at the same time I want to be selfish and freeze time so that you stay small and in my arms forever. I know this can't happen so for now I will cherish every moment of your tiny selves that I possibly can.

I Love You to the Moon and Back my Little Munchkins,

XOX - Aunty Katie

I’m back from my holiday and couldn’t be happier about my fabulous trip. I’ll start from the beginning just so you get a step by step of the holiday.

Tuesday night Amy and I stayed in Beaumont so that we were closer to the airport for our 9:30am flight. We arrived in Vancouver where we met up with my baby cousin Lauren and my Aunty Jo. We had a nice reunion with hugs and kisses then scooted over to Starbucks to enjoy while we caught up with one another. Just after 1:00pm we boarded out plane, destination Santa Ana. It was a nice clear day with blue skies so when we flew over the ocean we were able to see the beaches that stretch for miles. We arrived at the John Wayne Airport then hopped into a cab and drove to our hotel – which was literally right across the street from Disneyland! Since we got there in the later afternoon we didn’t want to use one of our day passes so we went to The Garden Walk and did a bit of shopping then later we headed to Downtown Disney to wander in the shops. We went to Tortilla Jo’s for supper which was pretty good. Did some more wandering and then headed back to the hotel.
In the morning Lauren woke us up nice and early to head to Disneyland for the day. And by day, I mean we were at Disney by 9am and we left the park when it closed at 10pm. During that time we managed to go on 21 rides, which is craziness. We enjoyed lots of snacks, the lineups weren’t too bad as it was a Thursday. There is so much to look at in Disneyland it definitely kept us all captivated for our whole trip.

Friday we decided to go shopping at the Outlet Mall for the morning. Us girls had lots of fun picking things out for each other - especially for Aunty Jo. We played dress up with her in the Ann Taylor store for more than an hour. It always nice to have someone who doesn't spend much on themselves be pampered for a bit. I ended up buying a new pair of sunnies and a pair of shoes. I didn't go too crazy as I do have my Vegas trip coming up quickly (YAY!). After our shopping we went and dropped our bags at the hotel and wandered across the way to California Adventure Park. We went on the big rollar coaster, the smaller rollar coaster, Soaring Over California, Ariel's ride, went to see the Muppets 3D show, and many more. We also got to see the World of Colour show later that night which is a water and projector show. It was really neat how they designed it. Very cool and I definitely recommend people to go see it!

Saturday we designated as our beach day. We rented a car and drove down to Huntington Beach. I must say that had to have been my highlight of the trip. We rented cruiser bikes and rode the miles and miles of beach for 4 hours. It was so gorgeous out we all got sun while riding. There were people everywhere playing beach volleyball, beach football, campfires roaring, kids playing in the ocean. We layed in the sand for hours reading and tanning, and Amy and I were the only two who went into the ocean. The water wasn't too bad temperature wise but Lauren said she was just too cold to go. It was an awesome day and I could definitely get used to that lifestyle that's for sure!
Sunday was our last day with our Disney park hopper passes so we headed to Disney at 10am and enjoyed some of our favourite rides including Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, the Tea Cups, Peter Pan, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. We had the pleasure of enjoying a character lunch at Goofy’s Kitchen in honor of Lauren’s 18th birthday. That was fun and deliscious – stuffing our faces with a wonderful buffet and getting to meet some of the characters. Back to the park we went soaking up every last minute of it until we left at 1:00am. That’s right, we were there from 10am – 1am. We are hard core haha!

Monday came quickly, but we spent a little time out at the pool until we had to call the cab to come take us away to the airport. Back to reality. Darn!

Overall, it was an awesome trip – thanks again Aunty Jo for everything, we love you!! It’s always a pleasure meeting up with the relatives. Can’t wait for our next one J
